Selling your home can be daunting at any time of the year. During the holiday season, when stress levels are already high and everyone is focused on their own to-do lists, selling your home can seem close to impossible!


Stick to these tips to keep your holiday stress levels low, and get your house on the market and hopefully sold by the new year.


Keep holiday decorations, inside and out, to a minimum (and tasteful!).

It’s easy to over-decorate during the holidays – especially if you are trying to make an impression to a potential buyer! But remember, less is more.

It might seem like the holiday season isn’t a good time to put your house on the market. But some companies reward their employees with holiday bonuses – giving them a little extra cash that could be put to use for a down payment on your home.


Less inventory during the holidays means less competition.

The inventory in the housing market is much lower around the holidays. Many sellers don’t want to deal with the hassle of listing their home for sale at this time of the year. Who can blame them – the holidays are stressful and some think buyers won’t be looking for houses during this time. This is actually good news! Less listings means less competition between houses that are trying to sell.


Buyers tend to be more serious about buying a house when looking during this time of year.

More good news! Even though less people might be looking for a home during the holidays, the ones who are looking tend to be more serious and more likely to make moves. With that holiday bonus in their pocket, they are only a step away from buying your house.
